About the position

The Deputy Chief, Technology plays a crucial role in leading technology strategies and department operations, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer. This position is responsible for overseeing information systems, enterprise application development, and AI initiatives, while also acting as a leader for the technology team in the absence of the executive. The Deputy Chief ensures that the organization's technological infrastructure aligns with strategic goals and meets high standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive technology strategies that drive the organization's mission and overall strategic plan.
  • Oversee operations of the technology department, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Lead initiatives for smooth and effective digital transformation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts as needed.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to understand needs and ensure technology solutions meet expectations.
  • Respond to escalated and sensitive member feedback to improve technology services and provide high-level service to members.
  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Accountable for the development and management of systems including software development, enterprise applications, AI technologies, CRM utilization, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to technology policies and processes within the organization.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver technology projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  • Drive the adoption of tools and platforms to improve operational efficiency and member engagement.
  • Oversee the effective use of programs in the technology portfolio, enhancing functionality and integration.
  • Lead efforts to research, design, and customize technological systems that improve member and staff experience.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with digital transformation, including technology, data security, and compliance.
  • Provide direct employee supervision, including selection, training, performance management, and compensation administration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible functional leadership experience in technology management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience within a membership association or similar organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields is required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred.
