About the position

The Deputy Commissioner of Adult Behavioral Health Continuum is responsible for providing strategic direction and administration for the statewide development, implementation, and monitoring of an equitable and accessible behavioral health system in Colorado. This role involves overseeing the Adult Behavioral Health Continuum of Care, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and managing programmatic directions, budget, and staffing. The position aims to enhance collaboration across agencies and improve access to behavioral health services for diverse populations, including justice-involved individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and administration for the statewide behavioral health system.
  • Oversee the Adult Behavioral Health Continuum of Care, including policy development and budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal funding requirements for behavioral health services.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to design and implement effective behavioral health programs.
  • Lead the development of requests for proposals to align services across the state.
  • Manage performance data to develop a performance management system for providers.
  • Supervise and appoint authority over the Division of Adult Services and the Division of BHASOs.
  • Provide clinical expertise in driving agreements and plans to meet BHA strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ten years of relevant experience in a related occupation, with two years in public or business administration.
  • Experience in establishing goals and objectives, and managing a budget to achieve program goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed for 5+ years as LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of Behavioral Health Disorders, including Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders.
  • Experience working in community-based mental health programs for at least 5 years.
  • Supervision experience in a behavioral health setting for at least 5 years.
  • Program management experience including planning, coordination, training, and evaluation.
