About the position

The Deputy Director (Chief of Staff) at the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) plays a crucial role in supporting the State Director and overseeing various program areas. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, providing guidance to executive staff, and ensuring the agency meets its strategic goals. The Deputy Director will oversee critical functions such as Engineering, Human Resources, Legal, Eligibility, Information Technology/Security, and Autism Divisions, while also managing special projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chief of Staff for the agency and provide ongoing support to the State Director.
  • Responsible for the Agency's accountability report and strategic planning.
  • Oversee research, strategy, and innovation regarding the Autism Division.
  • Provide oversight to the autism network services and implement training initiatives.
  • Guide the agency's Engineering Department and improve practices regarding engineering contracts.
  • Provide oversight and support to the Human Resources and Eligibility Divisions.
  • Manage special projects assigned to the agency.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in program management and executive-level positions.
  • Experience in a managerial capacity.
