About the position

The Deputy Director Finance for the Grant Operations & Analytics Team (GOAT) at the IRC is responsible for overseeing financial management and quality assurance of the team's finances. This role involves preparing budgets, reviewing financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The Deputy Director will also provide support and training to partners on financial management, ensuring high-quality financial practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare first drafts of annual departmental operating budgets and reforecasts.
  • Review unrestricted expenses monthly and prepare reclassifications for cost center coding errors.
  • Prepare monthly budget vs actuals reports for unrestricted expenses.
  • Provide financial analysis and support financial modeling for TechEx Leadership.
  • Manage temporary restricted funds and prepare revenue allocations as required.
  • Coordinate with fundraising departments to ensure correct accounting codes and budgets for TechEx gifts.
  • Serve as an in-house financial management system expert and support operational troubleshooting.
  • Review journal entries and program budgets in Integra for accuracy before submission.
  • Lead financial aspects of due diligence processes for partnerships, including audit reviews.
  • Provide finance and accounting training and mentoring support to partners.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable progressive work experience in a non-profit setting overseeing finances.
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, or similar.
  • Advanced university degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant national accounting qualification required.
  • Experience managing partner projects funded by major institutional donors.
  • Experience in training, capacity building, and mentoring of staff, NGOs/CBOs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to groups of all sizes.
  • Self-starter and solutions-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in English required, other language skills a plus.
