About the position

The Deputy Director of Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) at the Defense Health Headquarters (DHA) in Fort Detrick, MD, plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of MEDLOG by providing leadership and direction for all MEDLOG initiatives. This position involves supervising planning and execution of programs, advising on policies and procedures, and managing personnel resources to ensure the readiness of the DHA force. The Deputy Director acts as a senior civilian advisor and oversees the work of subordinate Division Chiefs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Deputy Director, Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) and act on behalf of the Director, MEDLOG.
  • Advise the Director, MEDLOG on leadership and direction of all MEDLOG efforts.
  • Supervise planning and execution of all Director-wide programs.
  • Support DHA work structure, including civilian and military personnel management.
  • Advise staff on policies, procedures, and directives from higher management.
  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate Division Chiefs.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience supervising mid to senior grade personnel (GS-13/GS-14 equivalent).
  • Experience in planning, developing, and implementing projects and/or programs.
  • Advising on federal civilian human resources/personnel programs.
  • Advising on budget requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in military logistics operations.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations related to medical logistics.
