About the position

The Deputy Director of Internal Audit is responsible for leading and supervising the internal audit functions within Ramsey County. This role involves overseeing operational, compliance, and special audits, directing internal audit activities, and providing strategic management to align with the county's vision and goals. The position requires collaboration with multi-departmental teams and committees, and it includes managing a team of three auditors. This is a hybrid role, requiring onsite presence two days a week.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise internal audit functions.
• Oversee and direct operational, compliance, and special audits of county processes.
• Conduct assurance and consulting activities related to internal audits.
• Provide strategic management to advance the county's vision, mission, and goals.
• Manage daily operations of the internal audit team.
• Collaborate with multi-departmental teams and committees.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Preferred: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
• Preferred: Master's degree in business administration, Public Policy, or Public Administration.
• Six years of professional experience in government budget administration, financial administration, accounting administration, or public sector audit.
• At least three years of supervisory or managerial experience.
