About The Position

The Deputy Director of Social Services for Adult Services at Dakota County is responsible for overseeing designated social service units, implementing strategic recommendations, and ensuring effective program management. This role requires strong leadership and decision-making skills, focusing on mental health, crisis services, substance use, and adult protection programming. The Deputy Director will also act in the absence of the Social Services Director, contributing to the overall mission of improving community health and well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services Administration, Nursing, Public Health or related field from an accredited college.
  • Five years of full-time paid experience at a professional level with progressive leadership experiences in a health or human services agency, including three years in a supervisory or administrative leadership capacity.

  • Previous leadership experience in a governmental agency.
  • Experience in equity-focused community engagement and support.
  • Minnesota Licensed Mental Health Professional.

Responsibilities

  • Directly hire, train, supervise and provide consultation to Program Supervisors, Operations Managers, Coordinators, and other social service staff.
  • Manage and direct the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, policies, and procedures in the administration of the section's units.
  • Develop and implement strategic financial plans and budgets for programs and personnel, ensuring revenue and expense projections are met.
  • Oversee the development, management, and monitoring of service contracts.
  • Participate in the development of human services programs in the community and maintain effective community connections.
  • Attend Dakota County Board meetings, develop Requests for Board Action, and make presentations as assigned.
  • Review, recommend, and monitor legislative initiatives and implement program or policy changes as required by legislation.
  • Promote a diverse, equitable, inclusive, culturally aware, and respectful workplace.
  • Analyze outcome, process, and production indicators to identify efficiency and quality trends.
