About the position
The Deputy Game Warden position is a seasonal, full-time role focused on enforcing recreational boating rules and regulations in specific regions of Maine. Responsibilities
- Patrolling assigned lakes and bodies of water to enforce boating regulations.
- Inspecting boats for compliance with recreational boating rules.
- Issuing warnings and summonses for boating violations.
- Educating the boating public about safety and regulations.
- Promoting good public relations and compliance with fish and wildlife regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years old, or 20 years old with an associate degree or 60 credit hours by May 30, 2025.
- Successful completion of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's Pre-Employment Physical Fitness Test within a year of application.
- Valid Maine Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
- Willingness to locate anywhere within the State of Maine for the summer.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in law enforcement.
- Knowledge of wildlife, hunting, fishing, and trapping.
- Experience operating motorized watercraft.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
