About the position

The Deputy General Services Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the operations of the Community Services Division within the General Services Department. This role involves overseeing division budgeting, policies, and processes to fulfill the division's vision and mission. The incumbent will supervise mid-management, technical, and clerical staff, exercising a high degree of independence in decision-making and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, maintain and supervise the administration of effective community services programs in public transportation, senior services, and community recreation.
• Grant writing and drafting requests for proposals for vehicles, equipment, and services.
• Ensure the timely and cost-effective use of resources.
• Develop and maintain community service programs and budgets.
• Coordinate the implementation of policies, rules, and practices for program duties.
• Present reports and policy changes to the City Council.
• Represent the City on interagency boards and committees.
• Perform research and maintain records related to community services.
• Administer contracts for services and supervise, train, and evaluate employees.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a good driving record.
• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Human Resources, Public Administration, Recreation, Public Transportation, or a closely related field.
• Five years of professional-level experience in relevant areas, with at least two years of supervisory experience.
