About the position

The Deputy Manager, Defense Waste Processing Facility Operations at Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is responsible for directing and leading safe operations at the facility. This role involves providing direct support to the Operations Manager, overseeing facility changes, waste transfers, and safety basis changes, while fostering a culture of nuclear safety. The Deputy Manager will manage resources, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with DOE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead safe operations for the Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF).
  • Provide direct support to the Operations Manager and act on their behalf.
  • Manage the safe and efficient operation of the facility to meet DOE requirements.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate procedures and waste transfers to achieve processing goals.
  • Attend daily facility meetings and provide direction to operations team members.
  • Develop and implement facility mission, vision, and performance goals.
  • Ensure administrative operations procedures are consistent for the facility.
  • Conduct investigations of operations abnormal events and implement corrective actions.
  • Review documentation and logs to ensure standards and objectives are met.
  • Participate as Senior Supervisor during Senior Supervisory Watch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience in engineering, operations, or maintenance.
  • 4 years of relevant experience in a nuclear site/facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including direct people management.
  • Project management experience.
  • Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS or MS in Engineering highly preferred.
  • Current qualification as a Shift Operations Manager within the hiring facility.
