About the position

The Deputy Manager, Defense Waste Processing Facility Operations at Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is responsible for directing and leading safe operations at the Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) in Aiken, SC. This role involves providing direct support to the Operations Manager, overseeing facility operations, managing project interfaces, and ensuring compliance with DOE requirements. The Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a Nuclear Safety Culture and improving operational efficiency through effective planning and resource management.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and leads safe operations for the Defense Waste Processing Facility.
  • Provides direct support to the Operations Manager and acts on their behalf.
  • Manages the safe and efficient operation of the facility to meet DOE requirements.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates procedures and waste transfers to achieve processing goals.
  • Attends daily facility meetings and provides direction to operations team members.
  • Develops and implements facility mission, vision, and performance goals.
  • Ensures administrative operations procedures are consistent for the facility.
  • Conducts investigations of operations abnormal events and implements corrective actions.
  • Reviews documentation and logs to ensure standards and objectives are met.
  • Participates as Senior Supervisor during Senior Supervisory Watch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience in engineering, operations, or maintenance.
  • Current qualification as a Shift Operations Manager within the hiring facility is credited as one additional year of experience.
  • Must complete qualifications for facility FOSC and applicable Emergency Response position within six months of starting the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS or MS in Engineering highly preferred.
  • Four or more years of Nuclear Experience at a nuclear site/facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including previous direct people management.
  • Project management experience.
  • Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, DOE orders, and company policies.
