About the position

The Deputy Operations Manager is crucial for the effective and profitable management of trips for Intrepid & Wildland Trekking Co. This role serves as the primary contact for field staff in the Sierra branch and oversees the performance of trips, including warehouse operations and administrative duties. The position also supports various functions such as contracting, reservations, and sales, while being adaptable to additional responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for field staff and Operations teams in the Sierra branch.
  • Oversee the overall performance of Sierra trips, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain and operate the branch warehouse location.
  • Perform business administrative duties related to the branch operations.
  • Support contracting, reservations, sales, and other functions for the branch.
  • Adapt to perform additional duties as business circumstances dictate.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the field area including Yosemite, Sequoia Kings Canyon, and John Muir Trail.
  • Experience in the travel industry, preferably as a tour leader or guide.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive apps, Microsoft Office/Excel, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Strong supervisory, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and work at a computer station for up to 40 hours per week.
  • Meet company and DOT driving requirements and maintain a valid Driver's License; must be at least 21 years old.
  • Maintain current Wilderness First Responder, CPR & Epi Certification.
  • Pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
