About the position

The Deputy Program Manager will support the government in the development and application of high-assurance computer security systems hardware and software within the Mission Concepts and Capabilities Division (MCC) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. This role involves managing contractors and subcontractors in a research and development environment, ensuring effective communication, problem resolution, and tracking program milestones. The position is contingent and expected to start in late spring or early summer 2025, with work conducted on-site in the National Capital Region and via telecommuting when approved.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Department of Defense information assurance (IA) systems.
  • Manage contractors and subcontractors in a research and development environment.
  • Track program milestones progress and ensure objectives are met.
  • Prepare plans and reports for management.
  • Review reports to ensure progress toward program/project objectives is accomplished.
  • Coordinate schedules to complete proposals, contract deliverables, and task orders.
  • Direct and coordinate program activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience OR high school diploma with 15+ years of experience.
  • DoD SECRET clearance.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing contractors and subcontractors in a research and development environment.
  • Experience in effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Experience tracking program milestones progress.
  • Experience directing and coordinating program activities.
  • Experience in preparing plans and reports for management.
  • Experience in reviewing reports to ensure progress is accomplished toward program/project objectives.
  • Experience in financial and budget management.
  • Experience in coordinating schedules to completion proposals, contract deliverables, and task orders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience OR PhD and five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
  • DoD TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Experience with program support for U.S. Navy programs.
  • Experience with business processes and communications for contracts supporting DOD.
