About the position

As a Deputy Project Manager at IBM, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager (PM) in executing the Refugee Processing Center (RPC) project. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a strategic enterprise partner relationship with the RPC leadership and ensuring that they are apprised of all significant issues in a timely manner. You will oversee the development of project schedules and assist the PM in implementing strategic guidance, vision, and direction to the project team. Your role will also involve ensuring program integration across various task areas, RPC groups, and functional/technical teams. In addition to these responsibilities, you will assist the PM in utilizing innovative processes to plan, organize, and control RPC activities, manage risks, and monitor performance. You will ensure that all RPC task areas meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements. Analyzing significant deviations from the plan, taking corrective actions, and forecasting any impacts will be part of your duties. You will drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities, while overseeing adherence to RPC standard processes. Furthermore, you will assist the PM in staffing, including forecasting staff needs, and evaluating staff performance, career growth, and the appraisal process. This position requires you to be located in the Washington, DC Metro Area and to possess a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the PM in executing the Refugee Processing Center (RPC) project.
  • Maintain a strategic enterprise partner relationship with RPC leadership.
  • Apprise RPC leadership of all significant issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the development of project schedules.
  • Assist the PM in implementing strategic guidance, vision, and direction to the project team.
  • Ensure program integration across task areas, RPC groups, and functional/technical teams.

  • Ensure all RPC task areas meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements.

Requirements

  • Secret Clearance required.
  • MBA or MS/MA degree in Management, Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related Technical Discipline.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional experience supporting complex IT projects.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience managing large diverse project teams.
  • Strong technical or refugee processing background, with understanding or hands-on experience in systems design, cybersecurity, software development, and web technologies.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to details and multi-tasking skills.
