As you progress, you will have the opportunity to advance to the journey-level Deputy Sheriff classification, where you will take on more responsibilities, including supervising and transporting inmates, acting as a bailiff, and fulfilling various law enforcement duties. You should be physically fit, knowledgeable in self-defense tactics, and demonstrate cultural competency and emotional resilience. Responsibilities
- Receive comprehensive training in law enforcement practices and procedures.
- Perform peace officer tasks under the supervision of experienced officers.
- Patrol assigned areas and engage with the community.
- Investigate crimes and facilitate community interaction.
- Supervise and transport inmates as required.
- Act as a bailiff or civil deputy when necessary.
- Fulfill various law enforcement and crime prevention duties under general supervision.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED) or completion of at least 60 college units from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of civil laws, codes, ordinances, and recent court decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve problems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to function effectively under stress and in rapidly changing environments.
- Possession of a Class C California driver license or equivalent.

- Possession of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.
