About the position

Your responsibilities will include patrolling assigned areas, investigating crimes, and engaging with the community to foster positive relationships. As you progress, you will have the opportunity to advance to the journey-level Deputy Sheriff classification, where you will take on more responsibilities, including supervising and transporting inmates, acting as a bailiff, and fulfilling various law enforcement duties. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a strong understanding of laws and regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. You should be physically fit, knowledgeable in self-defense tactics, and demonstrate cultural competency and emotional resilience. Responsibilities

  • Receive comprehensive training in law enforcement practices and procedures.
  • Perform peace officer tasks under the supervision of experienced officers.
  • Patrol assigned areas and engage with the community.
  • Investigate crimes and facilitate community interaction.
  • Supervise and transport inmates as required.
  • Act as a bailiff or civil deputy when necessary.
  • Fulfill various law enforcement and crime prevention duties under general supervision.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED) or completion of at least 60 college units from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of civil laws, codes, ordinances, and recent court decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to function effectively under stress and in rapidly changing environments.
  • Possession of a Class C California driver license or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Demonstrated track record of professionalism and ethical conduct.
