About the position

LMI is seeking a Deputy Technical Product Manager to support a DOD Army Program. This role is crucial in managing the development of products, which includes overseeing resource management, product strategy (both physical and digital), functional requirements, and product releases. The Deputy Technical Product Manager will coordinate work among various functions, including software engineers, data scientists, and product designers, ensuring that the product development aligns with customer needs and expectations. This position operates within an agile environment, collaborating with contractors, government civilians, and military personnel to deliver integrated capabilities tailored to unique mission requirements. The Deputy Technical Product Manager will analyze user needs and software requirements to assess the feasibility of designs within specified time and cost constraints. This involves conferring with systems analysts, engineers, and programmers to design applications and gather information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces. The role requires defining project scope and objectives based on customer requirements, providing advice on project costs and design concepts, and managing the translation of functional requirements into technical solutions. In addition, the Deputy Technical Product Manager will supervise and assign work to various personnel, including programmers and designers, while managing client relationships to determine needs and expectations. The position also involves creating integrated visions, roadmaps, and strategies to enable product delivery, identifying and managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring that the product meets user needs. The role requires strong analytical skills to troubleshoot problems and provide timely resolutions, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with product owners and clients to understand business concerns and propose solutions for acceptance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design applications and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Define project scope and objectives based on customer requirements.
  • Provide advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes.
  • Manage the translation of functional requirements into technical solutions.
  • Supervise and assign work to programmers, designers, technologists, and technicians and other engineering and scientific personnel.
  • Skill in managing client relationships, including determining client needs/requirements, managing client expectations, and demonstrating commitment to delivering quality results.
  • Coordinate and manage the overall service provided to a customer end-to-end.
  • Orchestrate the various activities associated with ensuring that a product is delivered that meets users' needs.
  • Create integrated vision, roadmaps, and strategies to enable product delivery.
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage dependencies and risks.
  • Interact professionally with clients/internal teams; gather requirements and document the work in a ticketing system, designing and implementing new feature additions and improvements.
  • Utilize industry standard tools such as Gitlab for code version control, project management, product requirements, and user documentation.
  • Work directly with the customer to gather requirements and product feedback for future iterations.
  • Support capabilities briefings for military personnel.
  • Analyze business requirements and create solutions.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide timely resolutions.
  • Clearly communicate with product owners to understand business concerns and demonstrate proposed solutions for acceptance.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product or technical program management experience.
  • A BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution, or continuous relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of capabilities and requirements analysis.
  • Knowledge of system life cycle management principles, including software security and usability.
  • Knowledge of software related information technology (IT) security principles and methods.
  • Experience in managing client relationships, including determining client needs/requirements and managing client expectations.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing the overall service provided to a customer end-to-end.
  • Experience in developing integrated vision, roadmaps, and strategies to enable product delivery.
  • Experience in identifying, mitigating, and managing dependencies and risks.
  • Knowledge of end to end product development processes.
  • Experience with leadership, management, overseeing tasks and teams, providing issue resolution, and providing expert guidance and direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, tact, and ability to effectively interact with senior executives from Government and industry.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities.
