About the position

The DER Project / Application Engineer at ASE is responsible for managing customer projects related to DER Gateways, DER Aggregator, and DER Control products. This role involves project coordination, engineering, and commissioning support, ensuring that customer requirements are met effectively. The engineer will work closely with various teams, including Product Management and Project Delivery, to facilitate successful project execution.

Responsibilities

• Project coordination for DER Gateway, Controller, and DER Aggregator projects for Utility Interconnection.
• Project Engineering and Configuration for DER Gateways and Controllers.
• Product testing, validation, and SCADA pre-testing in ASE Labs or customer Labs/Sites.
• Site Commissioning Support and Utility SCADA testing support for PTO/Interconnection.
• Application Engineering Support to Sales and BD teams to help customers understand project and Utility requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the DER/Renewable Industry.
• Engineering and site commissioning experience with PV/BESS projects.
• Experience with Inverters, Gateways, Storage, Power Control Systems, or Energy Management Systems.
• Experience with Utility Communication or Automation, including Automation/Telecom/Utility Communication/SCADA/RTU/Gateway/Test Set/Protection Relay Protocols.
• Familiarity with DER/IEEE 1547 Protocols like DNP3, SunSpec Modbus, and IEEE 2030.5 using RS232/485 or Ethernet or Cellular communication.
• Basic understanding of communication protocols, Wireshark, and traffic analysis.
• Strong written and oral English communication and customer management skills.
• Self-driven with the ability to independently coordinate with customers and manage projects.
