About the position

The Design/Application Engineer at IDEX is responsible for providing product engineering support across various departments including sales, quality control, engineering, and production. This role involves designing and developing new products, preparing engineering models and drawings, and conducting flow simulations to ensure product specifications are met. The engineer will also assist in technical sales support and continuous improvement initiatives for existing products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve new or existing products.
  • Prepare engineering assembly, 3D models, and drawings with Bill of Materials using SolidWorks.
  • Design and maintain detail machine drawings and 3D models for valve components using SolidWorks.
  • Perform hand calculations for new components as required.
  • Conduct flow simulations to determine valve flow coefficients using SolidWorks.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement ideas for Richter products.
  • Provide engineering support to the sales department, including pre-sales technical expertise.
  • Create, enter, and edit new item numbers in the JDE manufacturing software.
  • Perform pump sizing calculations using Spaix program.
  • Assist the sales team with process pump technical inquiries.
  • Assist QA department with documentation and dimensional measurements using Faro coordinate measuring system arm.
  • Conduct failure analysis of returned products and develop reports on findings and corrective actions.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining ISO/QA procedures.

Requirements

  • BSME Degree from an accredited engineering university.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
  • Ability to shift priorities and focus as required.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in a shop environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiar with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drawing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with flow simulation programs other than SolidWorks.
