Jacobs is seeking an experienced Architect to join our design team in support of a multi-billion-dollar airport capital Redevelopment Program in Chicago, IL. This redevelopment project will take place in the midst of an active airport, where the existing terminal and concourses will remain operational while the new facility is constructed in a phased approach. This position offers a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to the growth of one of the busiest airports in the world as part of the program management team. The Architect will be based at the airport alongside the program management team, focusing primarily on architecture with an emphasis on facilities design, design management, and design analysis. The role involves oversight and regular coordination with consultant design teams, ensuring effective stakeholder coordination and management for assigned tasks. The Architect will be responsible for project management of technical needs related to architectural project/program elements, providing recommendations for the technical direction of the program, and supporting pre-design activities, including the preparation of Project Definition Documents. Participation in the design review process for all program elements is essential, as is the verification of project compliance with program and code requirements. Additionally, the Architect will support the writing of RFQ, RFP, and other design services procurement documents with a focus on architectural projects. Site visits will be necessary to evaluate and assess architectural concerns, providing remediation recommendations as needed. The role also includes supporting the creation and updating of facilities standards and specifications, evaluating design alternatives, and providing miscellaneous technical support as required by the program. The Architect will produce sketches, diagrams, exhibits, and meeting materials as required, and prepare detailed drawings, reports, and specifications for various design assignments as directed by the client. Furthermore, assessing potential program risks associated with materials, schedule, and costs will be a critical aspect of the role.
