About the position

The Design Architect for Senior Living is responsible for leading the planning and architectural design of senior living environments, ensuring that they meet the evolving needs of clients and residents. This role involves engaging with clients and stakeholders, collaborating with internal teams, and applying a purpose-driven design approach to create meaningful spaces for aging populations. The position requires a deep understanding of various senior living environments and the ability to mentor and lead project teams while fostering a collaborative work culture.

Responsibilities

• Act as a client liaison for projects, leading them through the design process.
• Ensure seamless facilitation and coordination of planning, programming, concept, and schematic design.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to team members and project teams.
• Prepare presentation and design drawings utilizing current techniques and technology.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams in both written and oral formats.
• Exhibit a working knowledge of senior living operations, finance, and regulations that influence planning and design solutions.
• Work at different scales, from master planning to fine detailing.
• Solve problems proactively and prioritize tasks and assignments.

Requirements

• Licensed architect with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in senior living planning and architectural design.
• Strong understanding of sustainable design and building processes and concepts.
• Excellent technical and interpersonal skills.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a high standard in written and graphic communication.
• Knowledge and experience with Revit, SketchUp, and related software.
• Knowledge of other graphic software such as Adobe/Affinity suite and rendering software.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in master planning, repositioning, and renovation work in addition to new construction.
• Depth of expertise in programming and planning for various senior living environments.
