About the position

The Design Architect position at PWCampbell involves designing and developing various building types, primarily for financial institutions. The role requires a design-driven individual who is construction-minded, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator. The architect will work closely with internal teams and external consultants to ensure cohesive and compliant designs that meet client expectations and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for client programming, concept development, site planning, building design, and preliminary interior design.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including branded environments, technology, and furniture design to ensure cohesive design.
  • Communicate internally with land development, preconstruction teams, and project executives.
  • Create 3D digital models for project design development.
  • Identify project requirements to ensure accurate functionality of drawings.
  • Understand project construction costs to develop budget-compliant designs.
  • Organize and facilitate project design presentation meetings, keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions for renovation projects.
  • Oversee and provide direction to project architects during construction document production phase.
  • Address Requests for Information (RFIs) from Project Managers during construction.
  • Collaborate with external consultants including site/civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Specify materials utilized within the building, including doors, lighting, and other components.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to identify potential flaws prior to the design phase.
  • Develop designs, present and promote them effectively, prioritizing the client's best interests throughout the process.
  • Conduct Quality Control/Quality Assurance reviews to ensure compliance with life safety standards and assess constructability.
  • Research and implement zoning requirements as related to specific project types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Architectural License or in process of obtaining.
  • Minimum of 5 years of architect experience, along with knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Occasional travel to job sites.
  • Above average computer skills.
  • Expertise in SketchUp, AutoDesk Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and Enscape is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and verbally.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review design drawings.
  • Ability to solve problems with diplomacy and think independently and within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Revit (1 year preferred)
  • Experience with SketchUp (1 year preferred)
