About the position
The Design & Development Manager, Textiles at CB2 is responsible for shaping the future vision of the brand through innovative product design, development, and sourcing within the Textiles category. This role focuses on executing brand strategies related to line design, SKU growth, and profitability while ensuring quality and design excellence. The position is hybrid, requiring four days a week in the Chicago corporate office, and involves collaboration with various teams to manage the lifecycle of textile products from concept to execution.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Design & Development on unique product concepts for the Textiles category.
- Manage the Textile design development process throughout its lifecycle.
- Develop Textile designs through detailed briefs with 3rd party designers and approve final line drawings for sampling.
- Lead the development of product lines into well-positioned price points to contribute to business growth.
- Execute and advise on vendor strategies to support Product Development and Buying strategies.
- Negotiate favorable first costs based on targets provided by the Merchant team.
- Lead the setup of design and product review presentations for Textile categories.
- Collaborate with and mentor associates and fellow Design & Development peers.
- Travel internationally for design inspiration and product development reviews.
- Identify and track vendor capabilities and performance management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 5 years of experience as a Textile Designer or Merchant.
- 2+ years of experience in sourcing/product development/design in the home or fashion industry.
- Experience managing a team with strong communication and leadership skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Textile designs, business strategies, and production processes.
- Ability to negotiate and influence effectively.
