About the position

Valmont is seeking a highly motivated Design Drafter Co-op Intern for its Global Lighting & Transportation Division. This role offers an opportunity to actively contribute to the Drafting team while learning from experienced engineers. The internship aims to provide real-world experience, professional development, and mentorship, with the potential for a full-time position after the internship. The position is targeted to start as soon as possible and continue through the school year.

Responsibilities

• Determines changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project demands
• Makes sketches for use by other designers/drafters
• Interprets specifications and standards and provides information to ensure customer requirements are met or improved
• Communicates with customers to resolve specification questions in preparation of drawings
• Provides assistance and input on a project basis to other team members in the development of shop drawings
• Performs other essential functions as directed

Requirements

• CAD skills including design applications and an ability to convert drawings to 3D models
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrates problem-solving/critical thinking skills

Nice-to-haves

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and actively pursuing a degree in Drafting & Design
