About the position

The Design Drafter at WEG Electric Corp is responsible for creating and maintaining designs, layouts, drawings, and documentation for product lines including motors, generators, and magnetic drives. This role involves collaboration across various phases of product development, from proposal to field service, ensuring adherence to internal and international standards for optimal product performance.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain standards, designs, drawings, and specifications for quotations, products, and aftermarket.
• Develop project schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Resolve production problems and provide technical and process assistance to the shop.
• Incorporate manufacturability input from Manufacturing Engineering into designs.
• Support Marketing with inquiries and new orders to ensure technical and economic feasibility.
• Perform additional activities as required by the Leader or Product Engineering Manager.

Requirements

• 2 years technical college or 2 years college pre-engineering, Drafting Certificate or equivalent.
• 0 - 7 years' experience as a Detail and Layout Drafter.
• Knowledge of documentation requirements of ISO 9001.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities and problem-solve simultaneously.
• Demonstrated record of managing projects that produce quantifiable bottom-line results.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with international travel for project support.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and shop machinery.
