About the position

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team, which is the largest industrial employer in Virginia with over 25,000 employees. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating various responsibilities, including shipchecking spaces to identify optimal solutions for arising issues, coordinating arrangement work with waterfront trades, and serving as an integration lead with Norfolk Naval Shipyard and other AIT/CCTs. This position requires collaboration with other designers and engineers to produce arrangement products and drawings, acting as a lead for information sequestration from applicable government entities. Additionally, the candidate will serve as a drawing checker and Engineering Point of Contact (EPOC) to support scoping questions from contracts. The role also involves supporting the E63 Management Team in resolving trade priority EIRs and assisting the E63 Quality Team in root cause analysis for trade/engineering DC coded IRs. The candidate will also support E63 Managers as a point of contact for short-term special projects, such as ROM estimates for new contracts. The position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience, with various substitutions available for education and experience. Knowledge of Nimitz class electrical systems, including general power and lighting distribution, is preferred. Responsibilities

  • Shipchecking spaces as needed to find the best possible solution for issues as they arise.
  • Coordinating arrangement work with the waterfront trades, acting as the direct line of communication with X31 and the Construction Supervisors.
  • Serving as an integration lead with Norfolk Naval Shipyard and other AIT/CCTs.
  • Collaborating with other E63 Designers and Engineers to produce arrangement products/drawings and acting as a lead for information sequestration from applicable government entities.
  • Serving as a drawing checker for the department.
  • Acting as Engineering Point of Contact (EPOC) to support scoping questions from contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 5 years of related experience; 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's Degree; 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's Degree; 12 years of non-exempt, Manufacturing, Military, Shipbuilding or Trades experience can be substituted for Bachelor's Degree.
