About the position

The Design Engineer Electric/IC position at DTE Energy involves performing engineering assignments related to electrical and instrumentation controls within nuclear power plants. The role requires collaboration with experienced professionals to propose solutions to engineering-related problems, ensuring compliance with nuclear quality assurance and regulatory requirements. Engineers will be responsible for preparing and reviewing design change packages, calculations, and specifications, as well as interfacing with external stakeholders and supporting equipment modifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls engineering design change packages to modify plant equipment.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations and analysis including short circuit, voltage drop, and electrical coordination.
  • Conduct engineering analysis, walkdowns, design development, and generation of design output documents such as P&IDs and control logics.
  • Prepare and review equipment specifications, data sheets, and configuration documents for various electrical and instrumentation components.
  • Interface with external stakeholders for document reviews and approvals.
  • Develop and modify Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls design basis documents.
  • Understand and approve electrical and/or I&C wiring drawings.
  • Support equipment modification installations.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 5-10 years' experience in nuclear Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls, focusing on design in North American nuclear power plants.
  • Familiarity with IEEE Codes and Standards important to nuclear plant design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital and process instrumentation and controls system components.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance documentation and record-keeping requirements.
