About the position

The Design Engineer - Electrical Innovation at Harley-Davidson is responsible for driving the early development of electrical systems related to rider assistance and infotainment. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine technical roadmaps and deliver on innovation project milestones, ensuring the success of the Systems Delivery teams. The position requires strong communication, project management, and technical skills to support the organization's vision of leading through innovation and evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Drive early development work for rider assistance systems and related electrical system technical roadmaps.
  • Support early EE architectural work to provide long-term customer value.
  • Develop and evaluate new functions, features, and systems on motorcycles in a rapid prototyping environment.
  • Design electrical components and/or software using both off-the-shelf and custom hardware.
  • Define project plans and establish innovation phase milestones for key focus areas.
  • Collaborate with Systems Delivery teams to execute high priority innovation projects.
  • Effectively communicate technical roadmaps to cross-functional stakeholders and refine outcomes based on feedback.
  • Cultivate an inclusive work environment geared toward disruptive ideation and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in electric/electrical systems engineering.
  • Experience in electrical hardware design, including schematic generation and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with automotive data networks such as CAN, LIN, or automotive ethernet.
  • Experience using rapid prototyping tools and development boards like Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
  • Proficiency in software development or scripting in languages like C/C++, Python, and Matlab/Simulink.
  • Experience in mobile app development for Android/iOS.
  • Project management experience and strong problem-solving skills.
