About the position

Stryker, a global leader in medical technology, is seeking highly talented graduates for its Rotational Intensive Specialized Experience (RISE) Program. This two-year program includes four six-month rotations designed to provide participants with exposure to various engineering disciplines. The RISE Program aims to immerse participants in new product development, quality assurance, product testing, and simulation, among other areas. Each rotation is tailored to align with the individual's skills and passions, as well as the current business needs. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Stryker's Research & Development functions and will have opportunities for leadership and personal development through seminars, product labs, and networking with senior leadership. The program is structured to foster accelerated career progression, allowing participants to build enduring friendships and gain a broad perspective of R&D functions. Graduates will rotate through teams such as Advanced Quality Engineering, Engineering Services, Interventional Spine, Neurosurgical, Orthopaedic Instruments, and Surgical Technologies, where they will engage in design engineering processes, product testing, and the development of innovative medical technologies. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be eligible to apply for open roles within Stryker, paving the way for a fulfilling career in the medical technology field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions, ensuring that all activities are completed and documented in accordance with the Stryker new product development procedures.
  • Ensure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specifications.
  • Determine and implement design approaches and parameters and conduct feasibility studies on new designs.
  • Hold active role in New Product Development team discussions.
  • Provide engineering input on key topics to reduce time to market.
  • Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate the results.
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Aid in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.
  • May assist in evaluating vendor capability to support development.
  • Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to manager/supervisor/mentor.
  • Present to team members and leadership on accomplishments during each six-month rotation.
  • May interact with customers to resolve product issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering discipline; candidates must have December 2024 or spring of 2025 graduation dates.
  • 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA (or equivalent).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic and results-oriented team environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively work cross-functionally and externally as required.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and understand geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated or regulated industry is beneficial.
  • High level of PC skills required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
