About the position

The Design Engineer III at Crown is responsible for leading multiple complex projects focused on equipment design and fabrication, process engineering, and project support. This role requires a strong leadership approach to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance with company policies. The engineer will also provide technical support and training to customers, perform engineering calculations, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide equipment and process design from concept through to startup and operation on multiple projects.
  • Ensure project timelines are met and project costs are minimized while assuring proper equipment and process design.
  • Generate and check equipment fabrication drawings and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Travel as required to support project execution and provide technical assistance to customers.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses related to process design and equipment sizing.
  • Support internal teams as a subject matter expert for Extraction processes.
  • Review design and perform code calculation requirements for pressure vessels.
  • Train and mentor Level I and II Engineers and assist with hiring and onboarding new engineers.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process designs and review designs for improved performance and cost savings.
  • Manage design standards, best practices, specifications, and requirements for fabricated and purchased equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • More than 7 years of experience, exceeding the capabilities of Level I & II engineers.
  • Proficient in project scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  • Skilled in creating Process Flow Diagrams and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Experience in plant process design, layout, and sizing.
  • Knowledge in mechanical and structural design, thermal and performance design.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and commercial contracts.
  • Fluent in English, with a second language preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Required knowledge in AutoCAD and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred knowledge in Autodesk Inventor, CAD Vault, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 20-25% of the time.
