About the position

The Mechanical Engineer - RF Connectors position involves the design and development of RF and Microwave connector products for various markets including Cryogenic, Quantum Computing, and Test and Measurement. The role requires collaboration with engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to optimize designs that meet customer requirements while balancing performance and cost. The engineer will utilize 3D design software to create and evaluate connector designs, ensuring they transition from conception to final production.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design activities to develop, evaluate, maintain, and improve RF connector designs.
  • Collaborate with engineering team members, quality assurance, and manufacturing personnel to evaluate customer needs.
  • Optimize design options to balance performance and cost.
  • Provide engineering assistance, problem resolution, and training in support of production.
  • Identify and initiate designs of a complex nature.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar 3-D design software tools for design implementation and analysis.
  • Generate reports of completed work for release to program/design teams, management, and customers.
  • Perform hands-on work in a lab environment to ensure RF/Microwave testing areas are operating properly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • 5 years of RF and Microwave connector design experience.
  • Product design experience using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar 2D/3D design software.
  • Demonstration of microwave connector designs above 40 GHz.
  • Experience with standard and innovative materials for bodies, contacts, and insulators.
  • Experience with standard and innovative manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with electrical engineers on new designs and troubleshooting legacy designs.
  • Solid grasp of mechanical design influences on electrical performance.
  • Thorough understanding of quality principles and experience supporting product quality.
  • Experience working with ISO9001-2015.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in generating reports for program/design teams and customers.
  • Familiarity with methodical design development procedures and project documentation.
