About the position

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Design Engineer for a contract opportunity in Salt Lake City, UT. The role involves utilizing advanced simulation and synthesis tools for FPGA design, particularly in the context of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. The engineer will be responsible for debugging and implementing complex algorithms while ensuring timing closure in large FPGA devices.

Responsibilities

• Utilize simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools such as ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx Vivado/ISE, and Altera Quartus.
• Apply laboratory debug techniques using signal generators, digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERTS, and other complex measurement devices.
• Achieve timing closure in large FPGAs.
• Implement Electronic Support or Attack signal processing.
• Develop complex Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms in FPGA devices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years of FPGA design experience on Digital Signal Processing designs.
• Experience with digital communications architectural design.
• Expertise in VHDL (preferred) or Verilog hardware development languages.
• Experience implementing Electronic Warfare (EW) algorithms in FPGAs with electronically steered antennas.
• Experience with systems in high Doppler effect.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools such as ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx Vivado/ISE, and Altera Quartus.
• Experience with laboratory debug techniques using signal generators, digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERTS, and other complex measurement devices.
• Experience with signal detection and identification.
• Implementation of signal processing techniques.
• Generation of arbitrary waveform data files.
• Familiarity with code revision management tools such as Git/Clearcase.
• Familiarity with C/C+/C# and Matlab/Simulink.
