About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be a key member of the manufacturing team in Winchester, VA, responsible for planning, conceptualizing, and creating designs for new industrial equipment. This role involves collaboration with various departments to support the development of new equipment, maintain and improve existing equipment, and enhance capabilities for an expanding product line. The engineer will also focus on creating a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support Operations, R&D, Sales, and Maintenance groups in the development of new equipment.
  • Maintain and improve existing equipment and increase capabilities for an expanding product line.
  • Create a culture of safety and increase awareness and compliance to procedures to achieve zero OSHA recordables.
  • Implement best practices and improvements regarding industrial hygiene.
  • Develop machine specifications for one-off proprietary equipment.
  • Conduct research and develop functional machine/machine component designs.
  • Create FAT/SAT acceptance criteria to confirm equipment meets specifications and quality.
  • Manage internal and external projects including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Produce engineering documentation such as standardized work procedures and operational manuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program (BSME preferred).
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software (Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD acceptable).
  • Familiarity with document control and Autodesk Vault preferred.
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
