About the position
The Design Engineer at Nucor Corporation specializes in the design and application of floor and roof systems made of open web steel joists and steel deck. This role involves ensuring that products meet design requirements for various structures under different loading and environmental conditions, while also enhancing capabilities and supporting teammate development.
Responsibilities
- Design steel structures and products while enhancing capabilities, products, processes, and teammate development.
- Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates during project development, design, and fabrication.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external design professionals and customers.
- Serve as an engineering expert on Vulcraft's products and assist specifiers and industry partners.
Requirements
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited program.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification with a desire to obtain a PE license.
Nice-to-haves
- PE license and/or SE license
- MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Leadership experience or desire to take on leadership roles
- Willingness to pursue higher leadership opportunities throughout Nucor.
