About the position

The Design Engineer for Equipment Automation will lead the development and deployment of advanced high-speed printing systems integrated with reverse osmosis-membrane manufacturing processes. This remote position requires a candidate with a strong background in manufacturing equipment design, web handling, and automation, focusing on innovative solutions and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of current and future processes and technology, and its advantages and limitations.
  • Lead the conceptualization of innovative and efficient printer equipment design concepts tailored for water filtration applications, with an emphasis on process speed and reliability.
  • Apply expertise in automation to optimize the integration of automated processes within equipment design.
  • Implement solutions for efficient and precise automated functions.
  • Conduct thorough feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed designs, emphasizing automated processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address specific challenges related to water filtration membranes, printing, and automation.
  • Build and test prototypes to validate the functionality and efficiency of the design.
  • Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and iteratively improve designs.
  • Specify appropriate materials and components for the equipment design, considering compatibility with water filtration requirements and automation components.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations related to water filtration, printing, and automation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, water filtration specialists, and automation experts.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of equipment design, with a focus on automation.
  • Stay informed about advancements in automation technology and its applications.
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, engineering drawings, and technical reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of design iterations, changes, and adaptations of process equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment designs meet relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and certifications related to water filtration, printing, and automation.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes impacting all relevant technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in equipment design, with a focus on production equipment, web handling, and automation.
  • Familiarity with large-format printing is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements.
