About the position
The Design Engineer position at Nucor's Vulcraft division focuses on the design and application of floor and roof systems made from open web steel joists and steel deck. The role emphasizes ensuring that products meet design requirements for various structures while fostering innovation and collaboration within the team. The position is integral to enhancing product capabilities and supporting teammates in project development and fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Design steel structures and products while enhancing capabilities, products, processes, and teammate development.
- Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates during project development, design, and fabrication.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external design professionals and customers.
- Become an engineering expert of Vulcraft's products and assist specifiers and industry partners.
Requirements
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited program.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification with a desire, ability, and dedication to obtain a PE license.
Nice-to-haves
- PE license and/or SE license.
- MS in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Leadership experience or desire to take on leadership roles and/or positions.
- Willingness to pursue higher leadership opportunities throughout Nucor.
