About the position

As a Design Manager at Jacobs, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and construction of new terminal facilities and airfield projects in one of the world's busiest aviation markets. This position is crucial as it involves managing multi-billion-dollar airport capital redevelopment programs in the TX-OK region, ensuring that the impacts on existing airport operations do not adversely affect passengers and aircraft. You will be an integral part of a technical team that provides innovative, connected, and sustainable solutions while delivering best-in-class client service. In this role, you will report directly to the TX-OK Aviation Group Lead and will have daily interactions with clients, design teams, and stakeholders, as well as access to Jacobs' network of Aviation Subject Matter Experts. The position allows for a hybrid work environment, combining home office work with travel to client sites as required. Your responsibilities will include performing architectural and engineering tasks, managing quality, and fostering a collaborative team environment. You will focus on the aviation market at major airports in the Southcentral region, leading the ongoing progress of multiple projects. This includes coordinating with clients, subconsultants, and other outside agencies, as well as planning and conducting work that requires the evaluation and adaptation of standard techniques and procedures. You will also be tasked with resolving complex problems, developing resilient solutions, and building client business opportunities while supporting project proposal teams. Additionally, you will supervise design tasks and drive project progress, ensuring effective coordination with various stakeholders, including city, state, and county officials.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing progress of multiple aviation projects, coordinating with clients, subconsultants, and outside agencies.
  • Plan and conduct work requiring evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Use advanced techniques to modify and extend architectural and engineering theories and practices.
  • Resolve complex problems, including conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination issues, developing resilient solutions.
  • Build client business opportunities and support project proposal teams.
  • Supervise design tasks and drive project progress, coordinating with clients and various officials.
  • Ensure the quality of architectural and engineering work performed and maintain client service standards.
  • Prepare building designs using appropriate federal, state, local, or industry standards at both conceptual and final design levels.
  • Coordinate with all complementary disciplines, perform plan quality reviews, and participate in value engineering studies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with current and potential clients and represent Jacobs at meetings and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Licensed as an Architect or Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas.
  • Demonstrable experience working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams, including delegating tasks and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Experience managing various types of airport projects and large consultant/subconsultant teams from planning to final design and construction.
  • Unique knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars, AIP Handbook, and FAA Reimbursable Agreements.
