About the position

The Design Manager (Architect) at Dabri, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of capital improvement projects at Los Angeles World Airports. This role involves coordinating a multi-disciplinary team throughout the entire construction process, from initial design thinking to final construction, ensuring that projects meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements while adhering to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a multi-disciplined team of planners, architects, engineers, and other professionals for airport capital improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to develop a business case for potential capital projects.
  • Develop and present preliminary design alternatives and comparative analyses to address requests from LAWA leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Review planning and design submittals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements, providing constructive feedback.
  • Solicit feedback from internal and external stakeholders to guide design teams through competing interests and project constraints.
  • Manage planning and design efforts throughout all project stages to ensure mission fulfillment while remaining on-schedule and on-budget.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions as projects advance from planning through design, procurement, construction, and activation.
  • Manage design efforts across multiple projects to ensure a cohesive architectural statement and user experience throughout the LAX campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in planning and design in construction.
  • Licensed Architect (preferably by CA Board of Architects).
  • Experience with preparing planning documents and preliminary design packages for capital projects.
  • Familiarity with aviation and associated regulatory agencies (CBP, DHS, FAA, TSA, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI).
  • Familiar with planning and design software (AutoDesk, Sketchup, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Optional certifications such as AAAE, CASp, LEED, PMP, etc.
  • Experience in design and planning of airport projects.
