About the position

The Design Manager for SAMBAZON's Hospitality Group will oversee the design and development of restaurant initiatives, ensuring projects align with brand standards and are executed effectively. This role involves collaboration with various teams and managing multiple design projects from concept to completion, enhancing SAMBAZON's reputation in the hospitality sector.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple design projects from initial concept through completion, ensuring they meet estimate and timeline expectations.
  • Support the third-party architect of record and construction project manager for all projects.
  • Coordinate design efforts using both internal resources and external subject matter experts, including third-party architects and multiple vendors.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams (Brand and Concept, Operations, Licensing, Franchising, etc.) to customize brand design standards for specific locations.
  • Create shop drawings for proprietary equipment, millwork, and signage.
  • Approve external shop drawings and evaluate proposals for design elements and equipment.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of construction documents for accuracy and alignment with design intent.
  • Oversee planning and permitting functions in collaboration with architects and site development managers.
  • Manage schedules and budgets to ensure project alignment.
  • Manage vendor relationships with millwork, signage, and manufacturing companies.
  • Prepare proposals, lead negotiations, and follow up on bids.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as architecture, design, or construction management.
  • Five plus years of experience in restaurant or closely related design, with strong project management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (i.e. AutoCAD and Revit).
  • Extensive collaboration experience with internal and external design professionals, emphasizing accuracy and detail orientation.
  • Strong understanding of current design and construction practices, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Proven customer service orientation and ability to adapt to changing business environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with knowledge of project management software preferred (i.e. Asana).

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed design professional preferred.
  • Experience in nationwide restaurant design implementation.
