About the position

Shive-Hattery is seeking an entry-level Design Professional in Architecture for their Iowa City, IA office. This role involves working under the guidance of the Studio Leader to contribute to K12 and Public Sector projects, focusing on design expertise and client satisfaction. The position emphasizes collaboration, technical document production, and participation in design discussions, with opportunities for professional growth in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in achieving client satisfaction and business results on K12 and Public Sector projects.
• Participate in design discussions and collaborate with team members.
• Produce and coordinate design process and technical documents under the direction of a licensed design professional.
• Create graphical images and perform design detailing in Revit.
• Attend project and client meetings, representing the company with clients and contractors.
• Contribute to the design work in drawing, model, and 3D image formats.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited professional degree program with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture.
• Up to 2 years of experience in a related field.
• Basic knowledge of architectural systems design, construction documentation, and associated technology.
• Demonstrated aptitude in critical and creative thinking related to design processes.
• Understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code, and current ADA requirements.
• Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance is beneficial.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Google SketchUp; working knowledge of AutoCAD is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills.
