About the position

The Designer role on the Creative team at TikTok is a pivotal position within the TikTok for Business organization, focusing on delivering exceptional video productions and graphics as part of TikTok's Global Brand Studios. This role is designed for a self-starter with a strong creative instinct, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute innovative ideas while also being hands-on in the execution of projects. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful collaborator and a culture carrier, capable of inspiring big ideas while also managing the intricacies of design work. The Designer will be responsible for helping brands and agencies understand how TikTok can impact their businesses through thoughtful design solutions. This position requires the ability to prioritize workload effectively, considering asset delivery timelines and creative exploration. In this role, the Designer will engage in brainstorming sessions with fellow designers and brand strategists to bring advertising campaigns, events, and core narratives to life from concept to execution. Responsibilities include creating campaign mock-ups, data visualizations for various media, and designing visually appealing presentation decks. The Designer will utilize a range of creative software, including Figma, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator, to execute graphic elements and contribute to the development of brand guidelines. Staying updated on design trends and best practices is essential to enhance TikTok's creative output and push the boundaries of what is possible in digital design. The Designer will also be expected to develop graphic design support for various materials, including flyers, presentations, and infographics, while ensuring compliance with brand identity and guidelines. The role demands strong conceptual thinking, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage time efficiently under tight deadlines. The Designer will work across multiple creative software platforms and must be adept at translating ideas into actionable designs, all while maintaining a positive and open-minded approach to collaboration and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm with designers and brand strategists to bring advertising campaigns, events, and core narratives to life from concept to execution.
  • Create campaign mock-ups and data visualizations for blog posts, newsletters, and events.
  • Design beautiful presentation decks.
  • Execute graphic elements using Figma, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Contribute to brand guidelines development.
  • Develop graphic design support for flyers, deck designs, presentations, and infographics.
  • Handle supplementary static storyboard graphics development for sizzle reels, webinars, explainer videos, and more.
  • Work across a suite of creative software from Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, as well as Final Cut Pro, 3D Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Da Vinci, etc.
  • Participate in the initial creative process from brainstorming to post mortems.
  • Communicate and articulate design concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Manage time effectively and demonstrate creative situational awareness.
  • Understand visual design elements, color, and composition, as well as aesthetic and seasonal trends.
  • Conceptualize across a broad range of aesthetics and styles.
  • Deliver polished products under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Utilize project management and data management software such as Trello, Asana, Jira, Airtable, Google Sheets, etc.

Requirements

  • 3-8 years experience in graphic design; prior experience working on e-commerce related campaigns or projects is preferred but not required.
  • A portfolio of best-in-class creative that connects brands with audiences digitally and beyond.
  • Great with feedback and revisions.
  • Understanding of platforms and social media best practices, with experience in social-first production.
  • Expert written and verbal communicator, with the ability to articulate abstract creative concepts.
  • An understanding of TikTok and what is trending on the platform.
  • Interested in the future of Vertical Video.
  • 4-year degree in design or a related field is preferred but not needed.
  • Excellent time management, budgeting, and negotiating skills.
  • Experience working on a tight production schedule and translating ideas into action.
  • Commitment to promoting a professional, creative, friendly, and supportive work environment.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with TikTok platform and Creators.
  • Exemplary written and presentation skills that capture the audience's imagination.
  • A depth of knowledge in digital culture and the audiences that populate them.
