About the position

As a Designer - Decorative Accessories at West Elm, you will be responsible for designing and developing products that align with seasonal trends and customer needs. You will manage the entire development process from initial sketches to final approvals, focusing on various decorative accessory categories. This role involves collaboration with senior team members and requires a keen understanding of design vision and business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Guide the design and development process from initial concept through approval.
• Gather relevant inspiration references based on design direction.
• Research the market for new product ideas and competitive sets.
• Create design renders, orthographic specs, and comment forms for overseas vendors.
• Lead design presentations and assist with setup and styling of seasonal product presentations.
• Manage daily decision-making for functional categories.
• Correspond with internal product development teams and overseas vendors to develop products.
• Partner with merchandising teams to guide designs through to the assortment stage.
• Drive workflow to the calendar to ensure all deadlines and key dates are met.
• Recommend effective processes and procedures to improve workflow and results.
• Travel as needed to factories and buying shows domestically and internationally.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years professional experience in related field required, home hardlines preferred.
• Degree in design or equivalent experience.
• Experience with drafting and ability to quickly review and comment on drawings.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling and rendering.
• Proficient with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Outlook.
