About the position

The Designer/Drafter position at Pelican Products involves reviewing customer project requirements and identifying suitable products to meet those needs. The role encompasses a variety of computer-aided design and drafting tasks, including preparing assembly and detail drawings, and developing Bills of Materials based on customer specifications. The position requires collaboration with engineers and production personnel to ensure designs meet customer requirements and are feasible for production.

Responsibilities

• Review customer project requirements and identify appropriate Pelican products.
• Perform computer-aided design and drafting duties from sketches and concepts.
• Generate CAD drawings and verify details with the Project Engineer.
• Develop designs based on customer input and specifications.
• Create Bills of Materials for customer-specific applications.
• Design unique components for procurement and custom-made components.
• Incorporate changes into final product designs based on discussions with engineers and customers.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering on unique components.
• Ensure internal process control and meet customer requirements with Production personnel.
• Follow company policies and safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Associates degree, Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience.
• 3-4 years of design and drafting experience, with a minimum of 1 year as a Detail Drafter.
• Working knowledge of CAD modeling and drafting principles.
• Familiarity with MRP systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Solid Edge and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Working knowledge of SAP MRP system.
