About the position

The Designer II - Interior Design is an experienced, unlicensed Interior Designer/Architect responsible for contributing to project design and producing project collateral under the guidance of a Licensed Interior Designer or Registered Architect. This role involves preparing various design documents and actively participating in the design process while developing skills in interior design, sustainability, and collaboration with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop interior design skills including drawing, rendering, and visual/presentation skills.
  • Maintain and advance knowledge of materials and finishes, assisting in the selection of appropriate solutions for projects.
  • Advance computer software skills, including 3D rendering capabilities (Revit, Photoshop, Sketch-up, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Further develop sustainability requirements and consider pursuing credentials in select initiatives.
  • Make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement.
  • Prepare and produce design and construction drawings as directed.
  • Understand building systems, codes, and construction methods.
  • Support the success of the studio and firm as required.
  • Work towards NCIDQ registration process.
  • Collaborate with other staff/studios to meet project objectives.
  • Adhere to guidelines and meet project design objectives, deadlines, and client requirements.
  • Participate in professional development both inside and outside the firm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program with a Bachelor's or Master's level degree.
  • One to three+ years' experience in a Commercial Design setting.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a strong self-starter.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality design/construction drawings.
  • Ongoing growth in the ability to make design and documentation decisions requiring discretion and good judgement.
  • Pursuit of taking/passing all NCIDQ exams to become licensed.
  • Creative and collaborative with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere.
  • Advanced knowledge of required computer software, including Autodesk Revit and Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign.
  • A strong desire to continue to learn, ask questions, and be taught numerous things.
