About the position

Custom Decorators, Inc. (CDI) is seeking experienced Design & Sales professionals to join our team as in-home custom window treatment consultants. As a division of Hunter Douglas, we are recognized as the premier in-home design and installation service for major retailers and brands across North America. Our specialization lies in custom-made window treatments, including blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery. We pride ourselves on providing expert guidance, premium products, professional installation, and exceptional customer service to our clients throughout the United States and Canada. Our team manages every aspect of the customer’s project, from the initial creative concept through to the ordering process and final installation. With over 25 years of experience, we have established ourselves as leaders in innovation and quality, offering tailored in-home shopping experiences that meet the unique needs of our customers. We are looking for successful consultants who have backgrounds in interior design, window treatment sales, flooring sales, closet design, kitchen & bath, and related fields. Graduates with degrees in design or those who own independent design companies and are looking to expand their business are also encouraged to apply. This position offers uncapped earning potential, with average sales exceeding $3500, and the flexibility to schedule appointments at your convenience. You will have the opportunity to sell branded products as Custom Decorators is the largest customer of Hunter Douglas. Additionally, you will have access to technology that allows you to manage client and sales information anytime and anywhere, enabling you to quote prices in the client's home, enter and track orders, and access product installation schedules. Our dedicated client services satisfaction team is here to support you, ensuring you can devote your time to selling and maximizing your earnings.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients in their homes to design and sell custom window treatments.
  • Manage the entire sales process from initial consultation to installation.
  • Provide expert guidance on product selection and design options.
  • Utilize technology to quote prices, enter orders, and track installation schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in interior design or sales, particularly in window treatments or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
  • Familiarity with design software and technology for sales management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in design or a related field.
  • Experience in sales for flooring, closet design, or kitchen & bath products.
  • Ownership of an independent design company.
