About the position

As a Gensler Designer in Baltimore, you will blend creativity with technical expertise to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for clients. Your role involves collaborating with team members to develop design solutions and overseeing the design process through various project phases, including construction documentation and administration. Your ability to translate sketches into 2D/3D models and your commitment to collaboration and mentoring will be key to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on base building, interior architecture, and interior design projects including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and management of budgets and schedules.
  • Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces for various Practice Areas such as Critical Facilities, Sciences, Office Developers, and more.
  • Coordinate with Interior Designers, Project Architects, and Project Managers on project milestones delivery.
  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting specifications.
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Support design documentation during the execution of design concepts.
  • Work with external consultants and product representatives to meet project objectives.
  • Produce graphic presentations including 3D renderings and construction drawings.
  • Contribute to the production of plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections for construction.
  • Assist in managing client expectations and team communication.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships.
  • Champion Gensler's diversity and inclusion goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Interior Architecture from an accredited program.
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience in interior architecture and/or ground-up building architectural experience.
  • Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD + 3-D, Enscape, VRay, Grasshopper, Rhino or other visualization software.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or SPEXX is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF+E, furniture systems, and specifications.
  • Outstanding conceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and relationship management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed / Registered Architect, NCIDQ certification, and LEED accreditation are a plus.
  • Hand rendering skills to communicate design concepts are a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices.
