About the position

The User Experience (UX) Designer position at ManpowerGroup is a contract role based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, lasting for 11 months. The primary focus of this role is to leverage new user interaction technologies to create compelling user experiences that effectively address customer needs. The designer will engage in exploratory design research to identify user needs and opportunities, creating experience journey maps, storyboards, wireframes, and other UX design deliverables. This role requires translating user needs into product design concepts and usability requirements, leading creative concept processes, and contributing to the prioritization and selection of alternative concepts. The UX Designer will also be responsible for creating UI designs for embedded and web software systems that align with customer and business needs. Solidifying and refining design concepts with detailed specifications is crucial for communicating these concepts to internal partners. The designer will develop prototypes to explore and validate product design concepts and participate in usability testing, documenting findings and making design recommendations based on user feedback. This position requires a strong background in user-interface design, particularly in commercial product development, and a solid understanding of interaction design, wireframing, and rapid prototyping. The designer will need to possess strong conceptualization and visual communication skills, as well as experience with UX analysis methods to structure user research insights. The role also involves iterating designs based on insights and leveraging data to inform design decisions, making proficiency in design and prototyping tools essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise and direction on leveraging new user interaction technologies to create compelling user experiences that solve customer needs.
  • Participate in exploratory design research to identify user needs and opportunities to meet user needs.
  • Create experience journey maps, storyboards, wireframes, and other UX design deliverables.
  • Translate user needs to product design concepts and usability requirements.
  • Lead creative concept processes and contribute to the creation, prioritization, and selection of alternative concepts.
  • Create UI designs for embedded and web software systems that meet customer and business needs.
  • Solidify and refine design concepts with design specifications to communicate concepts and designs to internal partners.
  • Develop prototypes to explore and validate product design concepts.
  • Participate in usability testing, documenting findings and making design recommendations.

Requirements

  • M.S degree in Graphic Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant user-interface design experience (e.g., UX / Interaction Design / Visual Design / Digital Product Design) in commercial product development.
  • Strong experience in interaction design, utilizing wire framing, and rapid prototyping.
  • Experience in information architecture for software design, including embedded software.
  • Strong conceptualization ability and strong visual communication ability.
  • Experience with UX analyses methods and deliverables, to structure user research insights - e.g., personas, user journey maps, affinity diagrams.
  • Experience with conceptualizing and developing new concepts for addressing user insights and unmet user needs.
  • Experience in iterating design based on insights and leveraging data in a way that informs design decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of design and prototyping tools, e.g., Photoshop, Adobe XD, InDesign, Sketch, InVision.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills.
