About the position

The Designer position at Crate and Barrel involves creating enriching customer interactions and providing elevated design offerings both in-store and virtually. Designers are responsible for building long-term relationships with customers, utilizing their design knowledge to assist in furnishing spaces, and driving sales through effective communication and design consultations. This role requires a passion for home interiors and the ability to stay updated on design trends, while also leveraging digital tools to bring customer visions to life.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and provide enriching customer interactions through elevated design offerings.
  • Create elevated designs using preferred design tools to develop moodboards, 2D & 3D floor plans, product lists, and customer presentations.
  • Lead design consultations in person, via email, phone, and virtually.
  • Deliver projects in a timely manner within determined timelines.
  • Understand brand aesthetics and merchandising strategy across various channels.
  • Stay informed about product information, competition, and industry trends.
  • Achieve individual sales, KPI, and service goals while engaging customers on the sales floor.
  • Actively listen to customers to identify their needs and communicate loyalty services.
  • Support and model excellent customer service with a positive attitude.
  • Educate and train store staff on design services to enhance understanding of offerings.
  • Develop new and lasting relationships with customers through networking.

Requirements

  • Understanding of basic design functions including spatial planning, fabric selection, and lighting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate brand vision to meet customer needs.
  • Strong affinity for technology including 2D and 3D tools, Google Suite, and video conferencing.
  • Ability to stay updated on current design trends.
  • Proven track record of building long-lasting customer relationships.
  • 6+ months of competitive sales or interior design service experience preferred.
  • Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier merchandise.

Nice-to-haves

  • Open availability to work flexible hours on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Availability to work two or more weekend days and at least one weekday or night.
