About the position

The Desk Clerk position at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology is a full-time staff role focused on serving the needs of students residing in the Residential Halls. The primary responsibilities include monitoring security, providing information, and maintaining communication with campus police, while ensuring compliance with residence hall policies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors security of the residence hall and enforces residence hall policies.
  • Provides information, takes and relays messages, and manages mail services for students and staff.
  • Maintains radio/telephone communications for campus police and the college.
  • Notifies guests and visitors of their responsibilities to follow residence hall policies and regulations.
  • Secures the desk area and prepares rooms for conference guests.
  • Checks out recreational and cleaning equipment.
  • Maintains the desk and lobby areas.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated ethical and professional behavior.
  • Previous experience working with young adults in a helping relationship.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
  • Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness.
