About the position

As our Desk Producer, Video (Level 1 Journalist - Temp), you will play a crucial role in overseeing overnight newsgathering and production across North America. This position requires you to produce, edit, write, and deliver agency video stories from both the office and the field. You will be expected to respond quickly and responsibly to major breaking news events, showcasing your ability to work under pressure while maintaining high editorial standards. A sharp eye for visual news elements and video storytelling is essential, as is a thorough understanding of television editorial technology and social media. Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be collaborating with various teams and stakeholders. The role involves shift work, specifically covering overnight shifts and weekend work, which means you must be adaptable and willing to work long hours. You will need to demonstrate the ability to make decisions in an unsupervised environment and have significant experience as a professional video producer. A track record of working with multimedia and video packaging teams is highly desirable, along with experience in broadcast or agency television newsgathering and production. You should possess strong skills in driving accuracy and speed while upholding Thomson Reuters' editorial principles and policies. Understanding the needs of broadcast and digital clients, both regionally and internationally, is also important. Additionally, a willingness to travel to breaking news stories at short notice is required, along with excellent English writing skills.
